Part Four: The Beginning

Updated: Aug 22, 2022

How did some children become the boldest heroes three?

(Of course, I am speaking of Beth, Ugs, and Mr. Gary.)

It is quite a task that must be told from the start,

And I can only skip one or two parts.

They were just wee babes, our heroes tall,

Sitting in a tri-baby carriage, all wrapped up in shawls.

Out on the town with their parents by the river

When a giant wind brought more than a shiver.

It carried our friends out of their parents’ loving hands

Straight into the stream, away from dry land!

The carriage, it floated, as luck would have it,

But the children must act or be quickly the departed.

Beth was the first to move, and Ugs was guarded by Gary.

All, thankfully, too young to be scared, they stayed quite merry.

Beth reached back, grabbing the handle black

And made it into a mast, though sails it did lack.

So she then grabbed all their wraps

In order that the wind they might catch,

Whilst Gary pulled on loose threads coming undone

And gave them to Ugs saying “Tug towards the Sun!”

Now they could steer, but look up ahead:

A massive tree was falling and would now smash them instead.

Ugs sailed as she could to bring them in soft,

The others grabbed low branches and hoisted them aloft.

They put the sticks in the water to slow down their speed,

Then realized that the tree was just what they might need.

So as Ugs came to the tree, fallen in the water,

The others took in the wood so their ship could go farther.

They made a rudder from a branch and a steering wheel from twigs,

And slowly their tiny raft became a vessel quite big!

With the tree now gone, the siblings onward did sail.

Until a sight came that made them quite frail.

A waterfall was coming, off a great big cliff,

Downwards seemed the destiny of our protagonists

Gary began to strap each sibling in,

Then Beth got an idea that made her grin.

As Ugs steered bravely on toward their doom,

Beth acted quickly as the danger was coming soon.

She took down the covering which had sheltered them thus far

And cutting it in two, Beth looked to the stars.

Attaching one half to each side the three huddled close.

Their decision made, a choice they had done chose.

The covering would become wings as they launched off the cliff.

The vessel groaned the joints at first seeming stiff,

But the sails and the wings caught a blast of air.

Suddenly they were flying without a single care.

Time would go on and they would tinker around,

As their ship became more awesome and even more sound.

One day they hope to find their parents again.

They are always looking around every corner and bend,

But the wind takes them as the wind has a mind,

Knowing these souls are brave, sturdy, and kind.

Which is how we know them, daring trio three,

And as such launched the ship of Ugs, Beth, and Gary.
